Starting in 2009, physicians who use ePrescribing will receive two percent more in Medicare reimbursements than those who do not.

Free for the first year, ePrescribing through RHIO allows providers to quickly and easily send prescriptions to pharmacies electronically. In addition to meeting Medicare (CMS) requirements, Rochester RHIO’s ePrescribing feature offers numerous benefits.

  • Patient information is automatically populated with RHIO’s Master Patient Index (MPI) of 1.2 million patients.
  • RHIO’s service is fully electronic – orders are sent computer-to-computer.
  • Patient medication information is automatically updated, decreasing the chance of drug interactions.
  • RHIO’s ePrescribing feature connects to RxHub, showing all patient medications prescribed in the past two years.

Not all ePrescribing applications have the same features or qualify for Medicare reimbursement.

There will also be information about other Rochester RHIO’s services, including electronic results delivery, clinical messaging, and electronic medical records. RHIO has a number of easy solutions for physicians looking to take the first steps toward adopting electronic health records.

The list of data providers in the Greater Rochester area is growing rapidly, which means that you are likely to find complete and updated information on your patient, wherever they go to receive care in addition to your office.
